victorfranko Man, if a tangible version of this album is ever released, please let me know. This is just fantastic old school funk.
Favorite track: Until We're Free.

tmg501 Super bass lines, strings, brass, drums and backing vocals. Hope they issue this on vinyl too. The best soul retro motown sound circa 68 -72 but no cover versions which is great these days. Good to listen to in-between rare soul nights. I am an ex northern soul allinighter punter/ Dingwalls talking loud purveyor back in the day. Wish the band every success.they deserve it. Favorite track: Just Wanna Leave.

Fun City 03:26
well i remember a day this was the town broke as can be, but free and proud can't hide my temper I can't take what's going down now this soulless greed that's creeping around CHORUS: It's plain to see that times are changing These ain't the streets that I was raised in they put a toll on everything but on the whole, well, i still think... that it's a fun city! Once she was hated forsaken by the hive left her for dead yet she survived now she wants payment for raising up the five never forget she sacrificed and now they're lining up, driving up the prices free trade done raised the rent but at least we're seeing crime decline and yet in spite of it, we wind up in a crisis greed made us great again but that beast needs feeding all the time CHORUS: It's plain to see that times are changing red-lining, dividing, displacing community is on the brink how could it be that i still think... that it's a fun city? this ain't the place to be now this ain't the place for me now there goes the neighborhood bought and sold for the greater good and that's the quest for profit we're powerless to stop it so... i guess I surrender those 'hoods that raised us up strong now make us feel we don't belong best i forget her those good old days are long gone her fate's been sealed, so say so-long CHORUS: Cause it's plain to see that times are changing These ain't the streets that I was raised in i feel so old, and near extinct man, she's so cold, but i still think... why do i still think she's fun? yeah, it's a sign the times are changing, they're changing gotta get away, just let me get away i gotta go,and do my thing it's not my home, but i still think that it's a fun city!
2.
what makes a home well, i reckon it's nothing easy but from the second you come to greet me i feel right at home but let me make it known i turned the page when we got together my home's changed, and not for the better now i'm alright to roam CHORUS: and It's not that (I just wanna leave for you honey) you got that? (I just wanna leave) we all know (that I wanna leave for you honey) but also (I just wanna leave) what makes a home ain't just where there's a roof above me but people sharing my groove, who love me who make me feel at home but now that groove is gone i see all my friends are leaving don't make any sense for me then and so i'm moving on CHORUS: and It's not that (I just wanna leave for you honey) you got that? (I just wanna leave) we all know (that I wanna leave for you honey) but also (I just wanna leave) ooooo i need you it's true i wanna leave too and baby i know it's crazy but maybe if you take me you will see you complete me change is easy girl, believe me

Flying 03:18
i wake up in the morning i jump right out of bed and by the time the light is dawning on my baby's head i'm in line, line, line i'm waiting at the gate and what's to come is really hard to say and where she's from is really far away but i'm flying she got me flying now i ain't superstitious don't believe until i see ain't about to start counting chickens i'm getting the milk for free but i can't hide it, hide it, hide it she's making me believe and although it's heavy, and it's strange and i know that everything could change still i'm flyin she got me flyin now i'm one to keep promise and i got some vows to say and i know that my baby's home is a thousand miles away but i'll try, try, try if that's the price i pay then i don't mind, i'll leave without a trace and i'll be fine when i see my baby's face so i'm flying she got me flying
4.
everywhere that you go, the fellas love you baby you're always getting to choose and baby, surely you know, so why you act so confused? and so unenthused? well, i know you think that's it's better to be so picky, baby and i'm just a face in your crowd but when the tables are turned i'm always picking you out there's no doubt and you got everything that you want now, baby but i got something you need i know it's time, and i should be moving on, but baby i only follow your lead CHORUS: so what can i do it's all a matter of view while you're one in a million to me but i'm one of a million to you everywhere that i go the ladies love me baby they say i know how to move but girl, it ain't what you know, they say it's what you can prove that's the truth they tell me i can have any girl i want, and baby i could tell you it's true the only thing is that every girl i've wanted is you i still do i know you like the attention baby you need to know that people like what they see well, that's okay, but i only want to mention, baby one of those people is me CHORUS: but what can i do it's all a matter of view while you're one in a million to me but i'm one of a million to you
5.
Count On Me 03:15
When there's trouble and there's bound to be Don't you worry, you can count on me And when the storm has drifted out to sea I'll be there and you can count on me But when the storm is rolling, and there's no place to hide (I will be there) And when the wars of old begin, and you've gotta take a side (I will be there) There'll be nights when you're fighting for your rights And all your friends will walk away And you'll be strong, as you've had to be for so long But I'll be there anyway CHORUS: And when you're standing on crumbling ground And the sky starts tumbling down I will always be around, you can count me When you've got to be discreet on your way through town (I will be there) And when they stop you on the street, trying to break you down (I will be there) They'll attack you til you fall, til you come undone (I will be there) But when your back's against the wall, and there's nowhere to run (I will be there) CHORUS: Cause when you're standing on crumbling ground And the sky starts tumbling down I will always be around, you can count me

Girl, whatcha wanna do? Tell me, baby Girl, whatcha wanna do? Because it's a picture perfect kind of day out The kind that makes me want to say how Just how much, girl, I'm in love with you Sure 'nuff, my search is done Cause I discovered something in you And I got nothing to lose, and so... Girl, I know it's kind of unexpected We've been friends for all this time, I never mentioned CHORUS: You're my world (Girl, you're the one) Oh darling, haven't you heard? (Girl, you're the one) That's my word now, honey I only say it 'cause it's true now I'm only saying it to you now You're the one (Girl, you're the one) It's in the way that you walk (Girl, you're the one) The things you say when you talk, I know Can't no one take the place of you now Oh no, because you're the one Right from the start, you always played it cool Don't stop, now baby, do like you do Yes, it's a fact I act a fool when you come through Seeing stars, and I love the view I just can't get enough, you got me over the moon And even Cassanova would swoon You can have it all if you command it Baby, I'll never come up empty handed CHORUS: Oh girl (Girl, you're the one) It's you that I choose to serve (Girl, you're the one) For better or worse now, honey I only say it 'cause it's true, now I'm only saying it to you, now You're the one (Girl, you're the one) Listen up (Girl, you're the one) Yeah, listen up good, now What I'm trying to say, just in a funny way... In case you still haven't guessed (Girl, you're the one) I think you're truly the best (Girl, you're the one) I gotta confess now, honey I don't ever want to lose ya I gotta praise ya, Hallelujah! You're the one

i been here too long been without my baby to dry my tears feels wrong, feels like i don't belong and i been here for years but now it just don't feel like my home i'm without my baby, my shining light i'm alone, and my future's unknown when it was looking so bright CHORUS but now the sun don't seem to shine and the rain just don't stop falling I'm losing my mind and my darling, she won't come calling it's so dark and so cold and i miss my baby, so warm and bright i can't fold, it'll pass, i've been told like a storm in the night but now, every morning i wake still without my baby, to light my way will i break? how much can i take? waiting for the light of day CHORUS but now the sun don't seem to shine and the rain just don't stop falling I'm losing my mind and my darling, she won't come calling
8.
once or twice upon a time, you and i were free and to the world, we were a beacon all the heights we sought to climb, the sights we thought we'd see this ain't the future we were seeking i ain't blind i can see what's happening ever since i was a child, the sun's been on the rise and every day was getting brighter but now that light has been defiled, covered up with lies and the cage is getting tighter and we've been had we've been sold a story we should be mad cause it's a lie CHORUS (here comes the darkness) should the sun refuse to shine (here comes the night) you can run but you can't hide ain't no way we can stop this so we need to fight til we see the light i gave no power to the king, but blame resides with me if i don't give him any trouble it's a case of how we view the thing, as far as i can see i ain't the one who's living in a bubble you were had you were sold a story listen ignorant and terrified means easy to persuade divided right from the beginning wicked hints of genocide - the reason you're afraid but i ain't why your herd is thinning see, ya'll are blind you don't see what's happening you toe the line and just deny CHORUS (here comes the darkness) should the sun refuse to shine (here comes the night) you can run but you can't hide ain't no way we can stop this so we need to fight til we see the light here comes the darkness, people (here comes the darkness) here comes the night (here comes the night) ain't no way we can stop the evil (ain't no way we can stop this) so we need to fight til we see the light
9.
here in the marketplace it's life beyond the pale witness all of man's darkest traits they're all for sale make a stack, but break your back because that was the goal they selling anything that makes you happy the cost is just your soul but baby you ain't gotta buy it you can take it from me you came to stake your claim but it takes a lot to stay and you say that you hate the game but you got to play and now you're in it, win it pin it down and take a slice it's a club, if you want admission you're bound to pay the price but baby you ain't gotta buy it you can take it from me you ain't gotta buy it you can get it for free CHORUS: cause you don't know you don't know you don't know what you got this world is cold but it's yours to hold whether you know it or not don't give in, you can have anything that you choose you can win, but do the math somebody has to lose it's a deal you can't refuse i bet you tell yourself that you won't succumb to greed but everybody here is selling wealth like it's what you need gotta score, and vie for more we must obey the biz and keep hearing that same old story it's just the way it is but baby you ain't gotta buy it you can take it from me you ain't gotta buy it you can get it for free CHORUS: cause you don't know you don't know you don't know what you got this world is cold but it's yours to hold whether you know it or not don't play along you're way too strong you don't know what you got it's your spot to hold you got control whether you know it or not
10.
way back, as a younger man, all my decisions were all just for me now i'm older, and i understand that my vision's not yet come to be all the things i thought i understood everything i'm doing that i thought i never would still in no position to say that i'm free CHORUS (I can see) i can see the whole story (I can see) i can see the other side (I can change) i can change this path before me if i could see through my pride looking back for the better days instead of ways of fixing what's here but looking back at those better days were there ever really better days? or just an idea? i'm not sure we did everything we could i'm not sure it was ever really good but look ahead with a steady gaze and those better days might just appear CHORUS (I can see) i can see the whole story (I can see) i can see the other side (I can change) i can change this path before me if i can see through my pride
11.
i ain't trying to hear you talk about justice when there ain't none for all, just all for some we can't rest, so we stay stressed break the chains but still we paid less i wonder when that change is gonna come i ain't trying to hear you talk about freedom might be freedom to, but no freedom from how you shake us, and you break us all the pains you've taken to forsake us make us wonder if that change is gonna come don't talk about equality without no apology a facade for us all to see, but the same old policy CHORUS: brothers keep on dying mothers keep on crying government keep lying when will you see? though it's all so frightening don't see no indictments so we must keep fighting until we're free i ain't trying to hear you talk about safety but there you go, you got some kind of nerve all your set does is disrespect us and you sure as heck don't protect us we all know who you protect and serve I aint trying to hear you talk about equality  If I should die for yours, you die for mine  but you won’t though and we both know that you sold ya soul to be the po po and what you call the force is by design but it’s all such a fallacy, all the brutality  cause you still get ya salary, we get fatality  CHORUS: brothers keep on dying mothers keep on crying government keep lying when will you see? though it's all so frightening don't see no indictments so we must keep fighting until we're free
12.
i know you think that you own this sell us the pie in the sky and you'll still get your bonus while we just try to get by once you net it, hide your wealth store it somewhere safe (better put it away) "the precious fruit of all your labors" (the fruits of all your labors) but you ain't get it by yourself it sure didn't come from faith (oh, you better pray) no, you just looted all your neighbors (all your neighbors) CHORUS: but when they finally see you better flee, stay well away cause they've been known to rebel there's gonna hell to pay and they're coming for you we read it in the papers what your plan's gonna do for the poor but your greed ain't gonna save us and you can't hide the truth anymore CHORUS: and we finally see you better flee, stay well away cause we've been known to rebel and there's gonna hell to pay and we're coming for you
13.
i got so used to being lonely got my music to console me and i just called it enough but then i met a girl, we had an exchange and my whole world was radically changed it was a whirlwind, magic and strange i was falling in love CHORUS but even when it seems to be true (my eyes don't believe what i'm seeing) cause i'm deceived by every dream i pursue (my eyes don't believe...) but i joined the club and i was flying but what goes up, there's no denying you know it must come down so now i ain't in denial but it's trying my pride wear a smile but i'm crying inside like i'm just some clown cause i really thought that she was the one but all for naught, i could see we were done i'd be distraught, but the wheel has been spun and she must come around CHORUS cause even when it seems to be true (my eyes don't believe what i'm seeing) cause if i believe it, then it means that we're through (my eyes don't believe...) i, i'm moving on, and doing better she's truly gone, i'll soon forget her and everything that could be and i'll be fine, I'll make do on my own and I'll resign to do what i've known but suddenly i find, she threw me a bone says she's thinking of me CHORUS but even when it seems to be true (my eyes don't believe what i'm seeing) cause i'm deceived by every dream i pursue (my eyes don't believe what i'm seeing) but i'd believe again if she told me to (my eyes don't believe what i'm seeing) cause i'll believe it when i'm seeing it through
14.
madness, truth concealed with a chief too blind to even find the wheel sadness, the wounds are real we ain't inclined to take the time to heal it's been a long time coming i'm done waiting patience, wearing thin we're all exposed and the walls are closing in machinations, flare and spin heaven knows we were never supposed to win CHORUS: it's been a long time coming what's going on - it ain't about to stop it's a long climb to the summit and i still ain't ever seen that mountaintop i'm done waiting confusion, hate and fear: the schools of thought of fools that brought us here solutions may appear but we too proud to see, too loud to hear CHORUS: it's been a long time coming what's going on - it ain't about to stop it's a long climb to the summit and i still ain't ever seen that mountaintop i'm done waiting
